NICHE is a modern design firm focused on creating beautiful contemporary interiors and furniture with an emphasis on sustainability. NICHE takes on diverse residential and commercial projects, ranging from private homes and high-rise residential buildings, to hotels, spas and retail spaces.

Material selection is a vital part of NICHE’s work. Criteria may include timber from responsibly managed forests (not clear cut), locally produced (within a 500 mile radius of New York), the choice of rapidly renewable resources (such as wood alternatives like bamboo), and or reclaimed material options. NICHE researches, evaluates and supports companies, suppliers and manufacturers who incorporate sustainability as part of their business practice.

Kim Nadel, Principal, is a LEED Accredited Professional who has designed environmentally conscious interiors since 1991. Her previous award-winning firm, Image + Ecology, Inc., completed a wide range of projects, from corporate offices and retail stores to apartment buildings, private homes and public spaces. A certified interior designer, Kim has an MS in Interior Design from the Pratt Institute. She is currently on the MFA faculty of the New York School of Interior Design and teaches green design.

Lynn Herlihy, Associate, is an interior and architectural designer with over ten years of experience. Acting as project architect, designer, and construction manager, she completed a wide range of residential, commercial and institutional projects for an award-winning firm, as well as for her own firm, before joining NICHE. Lynn has a BFA in Interior Design and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architecture from the Pratt Institute.
